Investment Analyst Job at Axonic Insurance, New York, NY

  • Axonic Insurance
  • New York, NY

Job Description

Summary

Axonic Insurance is seeking an Investment Analyst to join its Investment Team. This role will be part of a centralized team that provides analytical and execution support across AXI’s investment functions, including asset-liability management, strategic asset allocation, asset sourcing and diligence, portfolio surveillance, and reinsurance-related investment activity.

Rather than focusing on a single asset class or investment function, this individual will work across multiple areas based on business priorities and investment activity. The role is well suited for someone with strong analytical and financial modeling skills who wants broad exposure to insurance investing, fixed income and private credit, portfolio strategy, and the regulatory considerations associated with managing an insurance company’s general account.

Key Responsibilities

Provide cross-functional analytical and execution support across AXI’s investment functions, shifting across priorities as the needs of the Investment Team evolve.

Portfolio Strategy & ALM

  • Support asset-liability management and strategic asset allocation analysis, including cash flow modeling, duration and convexity analysis, and scenario and stress testing.
  • Conduct asset and portfolio surveillance to assess performance, risk, and emerging trends across the investment portfolio.
  • Evaluate risk-based capital treatment and related capital considerations across asset classes and investment structures.

Asset Sourcing & Investment Analysis

  • Support asset sourcing, underwriting, and diligence across private credit strategies, including private asset-backed securities, whole-loan programs, forward-flow arrangements, and other structured investments.
  • Build and maintain financial models and analytical tools used to evaluate investment opportunities, portfolio strategy, and transaction economics.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, Investment Committee materials, and other analyses supporting investment decisions.

Strategic Transactions & Capital Initiatives

  • Support analysis and diligence for reinsurance transactions, sidecars, affiliated vehicles, and other strategic structures, including economics, capital treatment, asset-liability impacts, and counterparty assessment.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of new investment programs, strategic partnerships, asset management relationships, and funding arrangements, including financial modeling, investment guidelines, collateral requirements, and capital considerations.
  • Build and maintain transaction models and supporting materials, coordinate diligence and documentation workstreams, and track key initiatives through execution and governance.

Regulatory & Portfolio Oversight

  • Support analysis of statutory and regulatory investment requirements applicable to the insurance company’s general account.
  • Monitor the portfolio against applicable investment limitations and support related compliance analysis and reporting.

Investment Management & Reporting

  • Coordinate with external investment managers and subadvisors, including Axonic Capital, PGIM, BlackRock, and other partners, on investment activity, portfolio information, and reporting.
  • Utilize investment management and reporting platforms, including Clearwater and Aladdin, to support portfolio analysis, data integrity, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, recurring reports, and other analytical tools used by the Investment Team and senior management.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of relevant investment experience, preferably with an insurance company or an asset manager supporting insurance or general-account portfolios.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Familiarity with fixed income, structured credit, and private credit investments preferred.
  • Exposure to insurance investment concepts, including statutory accounting, risk-based capital (RBC), or regulatory investment requirements, preferred.
  • Ability to work across multiple asset classes, investment functions, and shifting priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
